Ezequiel Farca
Born in Mexico City in 1967. Ezequiel began his design career at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. where he earned a Bachelor's Deree in Industrial Design, and interned in Industrial Design at Western Washinton University in the United States. He complemented this design training with a Master's Degree in Large Scale Architecture & other Environments from the Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. in Barcelona. Spain. where he obtained a Ph.D. in Architectural Projects and a specialization in Modern Forms. In 1995. Ezequiel opened his first design studio, and soon afterwards a retail furniture showroom in the heart of Polanco, an upscale commercial and residential enclave in Mexico City. Ezequiel Farca was the first furniture designer to open shop in the region, amidst a host of internationally renowned fashion, jewelry and lifestyle retailers.
Several years later, Ezequiel moved the studio component of his practice to Santa Fe, a reclaimed territory of Mexico City that had become a modern metropolis, alive with young professionals. an iconic financial and business district In Santa Fe, the company flourished, growing into a 30- person design firm with worldwide distribution and projects ranging from interiors to product design.
Over the years, Ezequiel's many accolades and design awards include the Quorum Prize for the best designer in Mexico. the Good Design Award for his iconic Zihua Lounge Chair, the Best of Year Product Design award from Interior Design Magazine, and the International Design Award in 2008. Farca was nominated Best Designer of the Year by Ambiente magazine, won Architectural Record's Design Icons Award, and has been featured in architecture & design magazines throughout the world.
Farca is perhaps best known for his design collaborations with Mexico's most celebrated architects. He was commissioned to develop the furniture for Mexico's famous Habita Hotel by Enrique Norten, and on Reforma 222 by architect Teodoro Gozalez de Leon, both in Mexico City. Other well known commissions include Ventanas as Paraiso in Los Cabos and Los Veneros development by ICON group in Puerta Vallarta.
Commercially, the firm has designed high profile products or environments for a host of industrial clients, including Conan Dupont Grupo Urrea, Comex, Nouvel Studio, Res-In, and now Aeromexico.
In 2007 RM, along with Arquine jointly published the book EzequielFarca, distributed by R.A.M. publications in the United States and Canada, and by Actar D in the European Union. The book is available at architecture, design and art bookstores of the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) bookstore in New York
In spite of his busy schedule, Ezequiel Farca is actively involved in teaching and developing young talent He frequently participates in design conferences, seminars, and lectures at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM), among others.
